artist bio / Brittany Bidlake
Britt Bidlake is a multidisciplinary artist based in Penticton, British Columbia. Growing up surrounded by creative women with a get-to-creating attitude, Britt developed a passion for art from an early age and later studied at Emily Carr University of Art & Design. Her practice spans painting, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, and natural materials, with a particular interest in colour, craftsmanship, and the healing potential of the creative process. Her work is rooted in a desire to connect with the natural world through making, gathering, and experimentation.

BOTANICALS, PIGMENT & PLACE
These painting explore the Okanagan through plants, landscape, and natural colour. I create my own dyes from botanical materials, some gathered locally and others sourced, and use them to hand-paint each canvas. The dyes are permanently set into the canvas through a bonding process, allowing the colour to remain vibrant over time.
Rooted in the forms, textures, and colours of the Okanagan Valley, this work invites you to slow down and look closely at the natural world around us. Through colour and form, I hope to celebrate the beauty of the land and explore the ways in which place can shape us.
